It’s been 10 years of Star Trek Online, the MMORPG developed by Cryptic Studios and published by Perfect World Entertainment. It is the only Star Trek MMO on the market and possibly one of the most fun science fiction-based massive games there is to play.

Today, Cryptic announced the launch of Star Trek Online: Legacy live now on PC.

Celebrating the milestone includes a series of new episodes that feature well-known Star Trek actors including Seven of Nine (voiced by Jeri Ryan) from the Star Trek: Voyager and brand-new Star Trek: Picard series on CBS All Access, plus Starfleet’s very own Michael Burnham (voiced by Sonequa Martin-Green) from Star Trek: Discovery.

“These last ten years have been an incredible journey for Star Trek Online,” said Andre Emerson, the game’s executive producer. “And it feels like we’re only getting started. Over the last decade, we’ve had the honor and privilege of exploring all of the different series that really defined the Star Trek franchise. Looking forward, we are excited about diving further into new shows like Picard and Discovery and want to thank our wonderful community of players for being the reason why opportunities like this even exist.”

In these episodes, players will return to the planet Excaliba, as seen in the Star Trek Original Series episode “The Savage Curtain.” In that episode the Excaliban’s decided to experiment on humans by resurrecting their home planet’s greatest heroes and villains.

Legacy’s two new episodes will test the morality of the captains who choose to take on the story. Players visiting Exacaliba will face a similar test to what faced Captain Kirk.

The two-part episode, named “Measure of Morality” will put the Starfleet captain’s mettle to the test as they must prove that good is superior to evil.

This new update also brings a new 5-man Task Force Operation called “To Hell With Honor” that takes place on the surface of a moon. J’Ula and her klingon forces are building a new shipyard for her fleet. Players will need to cooperate to destroy the new base and prevent the construction of new mycelial-based weapons (as seen in Star Trek: Discovery).

“We could not be more proud of the team at Cryptic Studios for helping Star Trek Online become the game it is today,” said Yoon Im, chief executive of Perfect World Entertainment. “Ten years in development is a major accomplishment. The game has remained a success during its tenure due to the support of our players and the dev team’s dedication to bringing the Star Trek universe to life.”

Today also sees the launch of the 10th-anniversary celebration. Hosted by the super-entity Q, players can do various tasks over 20 days in order to earn daily credit towards a brand-new cross-faction ship: the T6 Khitomer Alliance Battlecruiser. This ship takes design influences from both Starfleet and the Klingon Defense Force to create a brand new vessel.
