The ever-popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft is now free for players with lapsed subscriptions to play until June 24.

This event, dubbed the “Welcome Back Weekend” by Blizzard, was first noticed by users on Reddit who believed the effect to be a bug. It is not.

Players who previously subscribed to WoW now have access to all of their characters, irrespective of level, and can play as many or however long as they like. This means that anyone can play, even on characters above 20.

Neryssa at WoWhead also reported that users who have not bought Legion or Battle for Azeroth have also have had their accounts temporarily upgraded to include Warlords of Draenor, the fifth expansion for WoW.

So, this is a good time to dust off those inactive high-level toons and get rolling through Azeroth!

After June 24, of course, game subscriptions will go back to normal and players must once again pay their way to play above level 20.
