The extraordinary hybrid-MMO space ninja simulator Warframe, published by developer Digital Extremes, will celebrate five years running tomorrow, March 14.

Just in time for that celebration, DE sent out a press release to commemorate how far the game and its community has come in that time and part of that release shows that over 38 million users have joined the game and experienced what it is to be a space ninja.

“Can it really be five years? When we started Warframe it was a 750MB install with one level,” said Steve Sinclair, Warframe creative director. “We had no expectations it would endure even half as long.”

Over five years, Warframe players have done a spectacular number of things in game.

They have crafted 52,972,344 warframes and 234,766,197 weapons. They have assassinated Captain Vor, the game’s first boss, 53,117,969 times and been part of 41,765,109 Stalker eliminations. They have accumulated a total of 136,747 years, 49,912,765 days, 1,197,906,351 hours playing Warframe.

“You, our Tenno, showed up and guided us and gave us hell!” Sinclair added. “With your support, we’ve continued to grow and experiment and with your blessing, we’ll continue to do just that. There is still so much left to do… together.”

Digital Extremes announced that a special microsite will be launched for the fifth anniversary and it will appear on March 14.

During the celebration, Warframe users will be able to share their memories, watch videos, buy commemorative gear and even receive a few special free in-game items.

Past anniversaries also brought new Lotus-specific weapons and cosmetics to the game. The Lotus, voiced by Digital Extremes Community Manager Rebecca Ford, is often referred to as “space mom,” for her role in the upbringing and care of the game’s main characters, the Tenno, who are controlled by the players.

Starting in March 2014, the first Lotus cosmetic auto-pistols the Dex Furis were released, followed yearly by the twin-blade melee weapons Dex Dakara, then the elegant rifle Dex Sybaris. Last year, a flowing back cape syandana called the Dex Nouchali was released.

It is yet unknown what item this year will bring but it is most likely going to be another “Dex” variant of some in-game virtual item.

Before you go, be sure to watch this video about what it’s like to be a new Tenno, growing through the game and learning to be a badass space ninja like everyone else.

Congratulations on five years in the industry, Warframe. What a long, strange journey its been reviewing your triumphs and tribulations.

Digital Extremes: This is what you are.

Godspeed and we will see you next March.
