ArenaNet, the developer of Guild Wars 2 is bringing new story, a map, and more to its most recent expansion Secrets of the Obscure with the first post-launch content update on Nov. 7 with Through the Veil that will see players diving into Nayos, the Realm of Dreams, also the home of the demonic Kryptis.

The story so far has had the Kryptis opening rifts into Tyria proper in order to invade with the mysterious Wizard’s Court and the Astral Ward standing as vanguard against them. This time it’s up to players to form the tip of the spear and take the fight to the demonic forces and push them back through whole new rifts.

According to ArenaNet, in Through the Veil, players will gain access to a new explorable map within Nayos to take the fight directly to the Kryptis and tackle even larger threats. This will also come with a whole new mastery track for grappling large-scale rifts and these encounter types called Convergences. These will offer groups of up to 50 players a chance to take on the heaviest-hitting fiends that the Kyrptis have to offer.

The Secrets of the Obscure story will also continue, leading players onwards, and revealing even more mysteries.

The seasonal Wizard’s Vault will also be changing and there will be brand new earnable rewards, although the current ones will not go away, but instead go into the legacy vault. Three new armor pieces will become available, a new infusion, and more.

ArenaNet also said there will be new obtainable relics to provide even more build possibilities for character customization.

This is the first major content update since the release of Secrets of the Obscure and with the second update after this one in 2024, ArenaNet is expected to release a set of new weapon proficiencies for each profession. To whet player’s appetites, the developer will be giving players a chance to demo those proficiencies and provide feedback from Nov. 28 to Dec. 3.
