EverQuest II is over the moon – perhaps not literally, but the game is sending its playerbase to the moon in its most recently announced 16th expansion for the game “Blood of Luclin.”
The moon, which is a major touchstone in EQ II lore, was destroyed at the beginning of the game and was later reformed. It has been part of the sky of Norrath for over 15 years and now players will get the chance to visit it for the first time since 2004.
This expansion includes updates to existing locations from EverQuest that players are already familiar with, like Luclin, and makes it part of EQ II. Additionally, the level cap will be increased to level 120 from level 110.
According to Daybreak Games, the “Blood of Luclin” expansion will re-introduce the snake-like race known as the shissar – who were presumed destroyed when the moon, Luclin, shattered – and are now threatening Norrath with in invasion from that same moon.
Norrathian heroes will be called upon to search and fight across Luclin in hopes of finding a way to stop the shissar once and for all and prevent them from reaching Norrath.
The expansion will feature new adventure quests, signature tradeskill quests, achievements, collections and zones. Those new zones include a Sanctus Seru, a quest and services zone; The Binding, Aurelian Coast, and Wracklands which are outdoors zones. There will also be five dungeon themes such as Sanctus Seru, Aurelian Coast, Fordel Midst, Wracklands, and the Ruins of Ssraeshza.
Players can also expect more solo instances, heroic instances, raid instances, and a contested raid dungeon.
As mentioned above, the adventure and tradeskill level caps will increase to 120.
This follows EQ II’s celebration of the game’s 15th anniversary last month.
The expansion landed today so players can immediately play. EverQuest II is a free-to-play MMORPG so new players can register today and get to work on levelling to fight the invasion from the moon right away.
