Gaming has come a long way. The ancient days of the Commodore 64 are over, but not forgotten. The children of the 80s are out there, and they still play games. Games like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The thing is, all these new-fangled games with their 3D and their cinematic cutscenes and their mocapped models could be done with the technologies of yesteryear. The 80s never ended. Check out this video of the final mission of GTA: Vice City in 8-bit on the Commodore 64. Rockstar Games has the story.

It’s a hobby of mine, re-imagining modern games on old-school systems. Mostly the Super Nintendo, being the pinnacle of gaming technology that it was. This Vice City C64 video is a treasure and a thing of beauty.
