Star Trek Online is a free-to-play MMORPG that takes its inspiration from the Star Trek Universe. It features both naval warfare and ground combat, if you can tear yourself away from the table-dancing Orion girls. Right now, the game is seeing the release of a massive content update in the form of Season Six: Under Siege. This update gives players a lot more control of their Star Trek universe, including the power to build their own guild Star Bases. They’re also updating the custom mission builder, so players can create their own stories and adventures for everyone to share. That’s just the small stuff. Star Trek Online has the story.
Developers should take any chance they get to let players claim a little part of the game and call it their own. Player housing, like those star bases, is one good way to do that. A player with a home in the game is one who will probably stick around to play for a long while.
