Most of the time, when people talk about Artificial Intelligence playing games, they’re talking about chess. Chess is a fine game, but both players know everything that’s happening on the board. There is no uncertainty, no need to guess. A true test of AI is to force it to do something computers are really not suited for doing, that is, guessing and bluffing. Poker is the perfect battleground to test these strategies, and the outcome of a poker game is far more complex than anything chess can offer.
