It’s Time for Indie Horror with Slender

Posted by | August 11, 2012

Slender is an indie game based off the Slenderman mythos, a creation of the Something Awful forums. These stories revolve around a strange, faceless figure, vaguely humanoid, who is connected to disappearances and disasters. The game itself finds you in the dark woods, alone with nothing but your flashlight and the Slenderman itself. Check out this review of the game in action. GameInformer has the story.

There seem to be a lot of “alone with a monster” style games coming out these days. Not that there’s anything wrong with the formula, but it seems like the horror could be stronger if there was something beyond avoiding a quick death at the hands of the monster. Some kind of effect that players will want to avoid even more than a quick restart.

    It’s an idea.
