Australian Video Game Studios Closing

Yes, you should care. We live in a global village, and fewer games coming out of Australia means fewer games for us. Anyhow, it seems that the economy on the world’s biggest island just isn’t keeping pace with currency markets elsewhere, and that means problems. If you have to pay your bills in the local cash, but your income takes the form of foreign funbucks, life sucks when the funbucks lose 20% of their value compared to your money. I’ve seen this kill companies in the tabletop industry, as well. But there’s more gloom and doom, too! ABC Australia has the story.

I mostly chose this article for the title. “Australian video game studios face obliteration” Heh. I like a title that doesn’t beat around the bush.
