EVE Online Rocked by Mining Bug Scandal

Not that scandals are anything new to EVE Online, but this one is a big sucker that is sure to impact every major player in the game. Short version; about four years ago, some folks figured out a bug that would cough up mining materials from thin air. They reported it, the company that runs EVE, CCP, ignored the report. So these fine folks continued their activities. And expanded them. Since everything built in the EVE Online universe is made from material mined by other players, pretty much anything that flies has some of these magical exploit materials in it.

There is some evidence CCP knew about the bug, but kept quiet for reasons of their own. The only reason we’re hearing about it is because someone CCP can’t banhammer …

Tolon, Goonswarm’s drunken monster of a flight commander, has many talents. Most are related to alcohol and profanity, but he can also sing. Yes, everyone was very surprised. In this video, Tolon, going by his alt name Suas, treats us all to his rendition of that timeless classic, “Let It Be,” with a Goonswarm twist. And just a little bit of fratricide.

There’s more going on in the world than the release for Wrath of the Lich King. In fact, quite a few little bits of information you might like to know are swirling on the winds like snow over a battlefield. Here’s a quick summary of what’s going down out there.

World of Warcraft is revving up the free realm transfer engine again, trying to drive the sudden influx of new and returning players to more balanced servers. They have a thread up on the forums detailing the server openings as they happen. Check it out here.
