World of Warcraft Movie Finds New Writer, Now Just Needs a Director

Posted by | August 3, 2012

The World of Warcraft movie has been a slow ship on troubled waters. Originally announced to have Sam Raimi at the helm, that fell apart when time commitments pulled him away to another project. The writer, too, one Robert Rodat, seems to have either left the project or wasn’t producing to expectations. Either way, the project has taken another writer on board, Charles Leavitt. You might remember him from such films as Blood Diamond and K-PAX. Whether the film can find another director is a matter to be seen. Variety has the story.

There sure are a lot of video game movies on the drawing board, but they seem to have a hard time making it to the screen. I do have to wonder what kind of world we live in where Street Fighter gets a movie, yet World of Warcraft can’t pull something together.
