Women Play Games, Too — The Difference Engine Initiative

Women don’t just play games, they design them. The Difference Engine Initiative is a program that encourages women to design and build games. The Initiative is already showing progress, with several games in development. Gamasutra has the story.

    Game design is an almost exclusively male domain, but there’s no reason why it should be. Women make up almost half of the gamers out there, so the experience necessary to make games is being earned with every new high score. Women have the skills. All that’s needed is a little encouragement, and a little opportunity.
