To The Moon — A Game in Storytelling

Posted by | December 6, 2011

Games can be a good medium for stories, and we all remember the plots and characters of our favorite games. Seldom, though, is the purpose of a game to tell a story. To The Moon is such a game, based around discovering the life and loves of a dying man, and why he wants to go to the moon before his life ends. As a writer, myself, games like this are honeyed treats, so I’m sharing it with all of you. Kotaku has the story.

Interactive fiction is the term for games-what-be-stories, but those are usually just text adventures. Visuals can play an important part in snapping open a viewer’s head and shoveling your art inside, and that’s what makes a video game approach all the more powerful.
