The Liberated Pixel Cup is a project involving the creation of free culture licensed artwork that anyone can use, combined with free software games using that art. Making a video game is 1% inspiration and 99% re-inventing the wheel. Anything that takes a burden off game developers and saves them from having to build a new version of the same old graphics and sounds is a worthwhile project.
