What they started with lawsuits against old ladies… Continued by spreading horrible plagues through their music… And even tried to cap off by overpricing their most recent console… Sony has come close to fruition of their weirdly Satanic behavior by decapitating a goat as part of a promotional event for God of War II.

While this is arguably one of the most lauded and interesting game experiences that Sony has delivered recently, we cannot say that God of War really needed a publicity event to raise both the ire of the non-gaming public and possible threats from PETA. Media reaction to this has not been mixed: it has been all out against.

This is what leads us voces to wondering what the hell was Sony thinking?

According to the Mail On Sunday in the UK a corpse of the decapitated animal was the centrepiece of a party to celebrate the launch of the God Of War II game for the company’s PlayStation 2 console. Guests at the event were even invited to reach inside the goat’s still-warm carcass to eat offal from its stomach.

Sickening images of the party have appeared in the company’s official PlayStation magazine. Sony have since issued an apology for the gruesome stunt and promised to recall the entire print run.

If Sony keeps this up we may be forced to contact that Vatican or at least fans of the Exorcist.

Update: Via Joystik, Sony has gone out on a limb to explain their God of War snafu.
