New Xbox LIVE Layout Boosts Indie Games

Independent game developers on Xbox LIVE have long suffered under the rule of a tyrannical placement on the Xbox LIVE marketplace that shoved them into the electronic equivalent of a dark alleyway. However, with a recent update to the Xbox’s dashboard, that seems to have changed. Indie games now have a nice, visible slot among the Arcade and On Demand titles. Hopefully, this change will see a rise in popularity for indie games on the system. Gamasutra has the story.

    As the costs of top-tier games rise into the stratospheric millions, indie games are the only hope for game-makers who can’t nail down nine-digit budgets. A change to make their games more visible on the Xbox can only be a good thing.
