Among other unnatural numbers, $2.5 billion is the number of the day because that’s the amount that Microsoft will close a deal with Mojang AB for the developer and publisher of Minecraft. According to The Wall Street Journal, the two companies signed an exclusivity agreement in July this year and this deal is confirmed by a blog from Mojang themselves.

The curious thing: all of the founders will be leaving the company. Notch, Carl, and Jakob are headed to other pastures—with a lot of green of their own.

Notch, the face of Minecraft, has gone on the record saying that he’s leaving because he wants to be an indie programmer, not someone who is the face of anything. C’est la vie, we still love you Minecraft.
