Let’s Buy Myst Again, in Real 3D on the iPad

Posted by | July 9, 2012

Myst was one of the most successful video games ever, and that success launched our little hobby out of the teenaged wasteland to the computers of bored housewives and office workers everywhere. In a very real sense, Myst is when gaming grew up. What better way to celebrate than buying it again on the iPad? RealMyst is a reworking of the game that presents the mysterious world in realtime 3D. This latest version has been remastered for the iPad’s controls, allowing players to explore with simple ease. Joystiq has the story.

Those of you who weren’t around for the original Myst have no idea what it was like. Myst was the first video game to really break through to the casual market. People bought computers just to play it. There were commercials. Advertisements in business magazines. Imagine if, oh, model railroads became a billion-dollar business overnight. On Monday, no one cares. On Tuesday, it’s everywhere. Madness.
