It’s Not Real Until It’s Counter-Strike: Bin Laden’s Compound Goes to Source

President Obama’s announcement of the attack against terrorist leader Bin Laden was sincere, uplifting, and about ten seconds ahead of game developers scrambling to replicate the assault. A few devs came through with cheap knock-offs, but as we all know, it’s not real until there’s a Counter-Strike map. So here’s the Counter-Strike map. NY Daily News has the story.

Well, there’s a lot I could say about this, but we’re here to talk games, not politics. Although the pro studios will have their day with the whole Bin Laden story, it’s good to see the community coming through with their own inventions, like this new map for CS: Source. Mods, maps, and models are our art, the way we react to events in the world around us. The games we make as a community show what’s important to us, and help us deal with our thoughts, emotions, and desires.

    Mostly that means nude mods.

Sometimes, it’s a sigh of relief.
