Hollywood Infected with Will Wright’s Spore

Movie rights to the half-finished life simulator Spore have been picked up by 20th Century Fox, allowing the studio to evolve its own over-hyped, underwhelming CGI disappointment sold on the director’s name. Sadly, the studio lacks even that, the director in question being one Chris Wedge, famed for …Ice Age? Robots? Yeah.

Movie studios do make a practice of grabbing up rights to just about any property willing to sell them, mostly to keep those rights out of the hands of other studios. So there is no real reason for fear, hysteria, or panic – chances are, no Spore movie will ever be made.

I just wonder how they plan to make a movie out of the character builder, what with it being the best part of Spore and all.
