Electronic Skin Can Transmit Virtual Sensations

Virtual reality is a powerful technology that is slowly creeping into our culture. The biggest problem with VR, though, is the interface. It’s one thing to be in a virtual landscape, it’s quite another to be able to reach out and touch that digital world. A new breakthrough using a sort of electronic skin might allow developers to send virtual sensations to a user, creating that sense of touch so vital to advanced virtual reality.     The article shows rubber sheathes that fit over the fingertips, giving the user a sense of touch. Yeah, in the real world, those aren’t going to go over the fingers.
