Late-night host Conan O’Brien has been attempting to avoid the dangerous fate of an aging audience by reaching out to the younger generation through the medium of video games. Sorta. He has no clue what video games are or how they work, and thus is comedy produced. In this episode, he takes on Minecraft, the block-building creativity game that has devoured the internet. It doesn’t go well. Team Coco has the story.
To be fair, Minecraft is a game that requires a bit of an “ah-ha!” moment. You won’t know what to do or what you should do, until there’s a little mental spark and you say to yourself, “I wonder if I could do this…” and then Minecraft will own your soul.
Dropping someone straight into Minecraft without any real goal and a bit of time pressure besides is not the best way to present the game.
