Capcom Bets on Resident Evil 6 Selling 7-Million Copies

Posted by | May 12, 2012

Capcom is taking quite a risk with its latest Resident Evil game, building one of the largest game projects ever undertaken by the company. They’re hoping the risk pays off in the form of some seven-million sales, which is, in a fair way of speaking, ambitious. A more practical person might call them insane. Why does Capcom feel it can be hit such a high target? GamesIndustry has the story.

There’s a conflict going on in gaming, between big-budget titles that need to sell out the population of California just to make their money back, and smaller indie games that could fund the company for a year on five-digit sales. Our little community has room for both, I think, but the differences between the two business models are rather shocking.
