Every day, web browsers are beefing up their powers, while video games come around from the opposite direction, looking for common environments and hardware platforms. The evolution of gaming seems to be headed online, for better or worse. On one side, that means owning games is probably going to be a rare thing. On the other, it means having to actually buy and install games might become a relic of a bygone age. The future is weird.
