“I sssay we just ssshoot it, Captain,” Boots hissed.
“I am inclined to agree,” Helvetica said to him. As the conversation continued, she poked through the reply options, grinding her teeth. “Does this dialogue ever end? It’s like I’m playing a Foundry mission. Which one of these conversation trees leads to ‘a gunfight ensues.’” A few more clicks through blocks of text (that she’d already read) and she finally found something that she liked.
“I was sent by upper management, they are not happy with your numbers. Stand down and I promise to be gentle with the audit.”
“Good one,” Rocky-Road said.
“Resistance detected,” the Borg creature said. “Hard sell mode engaged.”
Rocky-Road blinked and hissed with a sharp intake of breath. “I…don’t think it believed you.”
The supervisor gestured towards the window and the USS Oxford. Outside the Borg sphere, the tractor beam glow increased in intensity and the starship shuddered as bulkheads began to …
The news is out that cat pets in World of Warcraft will sit in your lap if you sit down. Players everywhere are testing this out, and having their furry companions join them. Just a reminder to everyone who follows the MMO Anthropology livestream. Tonight will be My.com’s Skyforge.

The game is an interesting sort of action-combat, free-to-play MMORPG that mixes fantasy and scifi into a game of gods. Your character is an immortal tasked with protecting a world against strange invaders and gifted with godly powers.
While new players have access to only three starting classes—Paladin, a tanky melee sword-and board fighter; Cryomancer, a ranged ice-based caster; and Lightbinder, a light-based ranged support—our friends have access to the Gunner and Berserker as well via a Founder’s pack.
You can expect Vox Ex Machina Editor-in-Chief Nelson
As the Revenant is the newest up-and-coming class in ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 2 expansion Heart of Thorns, much of the community has been eagerly awaiting the final core legend that this class will channel. That legendary figure has been confirmed as Shiro Tagachi—a villain from Guild Wars who wielded twin long-blades.
ArenaNet has also added that dual-wield swords will be the newest addition to the Revenant’s arsenal.
As a legend stance for the Revenant, Shiro is also expected to fill a role that seemed neglected with the other three—condition control, healing support, and tank support—which is a damage role.
The name for Shiro’s set of capabilities is called “Slashing Destruction,” which echoes Shiro’s past life as an assassin and his penchant for blades and the mist. His abilities manipulate the mists in rapid, flashy attacks that rip opponents to ribbons.

The forums for Epic Games have been hacked, according to an e-mail being circulated by the game developer. Currently the forums are also offline and an investigation into the hackers’ modus operandi is being done. Meanwhile, users have been told that when the forums come back online they will need to reset their passwords.
Epic also warned that hackers had unrestricted access to usernames, passwords, e-mail addresses, birthdates, and other personal registration information. For more information read Kyt Dotson’s coverage at SiliconAngle.
Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment have released another lockbox–shortly on the heels of a 15% off lockbox keys extravaganza—and this one continues to feature the Star Trek: Voyager-related Delta Quadrant treatment with a reference to the Krenim and time travel. The so-named “The Year of Hell” lockbox hearkens back to the Voyager episodes where ship and crew are chased across the quadrant by a power-hungry time-altering madman.
Also: for those who didn’t notice, the lockbox release also brings a new pet to the lobi store: puppies! Five new breeds of beagle vanity pets have been added to the Star Trek Online lobi store. Those who watched Star Trek: Enterprise will immediately recognize Porthos, the faithful dog of Archer, Captain of the Enterprise (NX-01).
Also featured in this lockbox is the grand prize of the Krenim Imperium Warship [T6]—which is touted as a slower, heavier destroyer-class outfitted
“Resistance detected,” the Borg supervisor said, the volume of its voice swelling in an uncanny crescendo of voices. “Activating Supervisor 341 adjunct 2 of Store 551 of 600. Stand by for direct interaction.”
The trio didn’t kick in the door to the vinculum (aka Manager’s Office) but they also didn’t knock. Apparently, these two possibilities carried equal weight in the world of the Borg Collective. The drone behind the incongruously large desk that dominated the room leapt up from his seat as Helvetica, Boots, and Rocky-Road entered the room with such alacrity that it almost seemed as if he’d left his suit behind in the chair as he advanced.
No, Helvetica realized suddenly, he did leave his suit behind in the chair.
The abomination standing before them looked less like a man and more like a collection of man-parts assembled haphazardly in the silhouette of a man-shape held together by a loose collection …
ArenaNet is starting to roll out the big guns in beta with the forthcoming release of the Heart of Thorns expansion to its popular buy-to-play MMO Guild Wars 2. This last weekend those who preordered Heart of Thorns had the chance to try out a limited-form of the new class being added to the game: the Revenant.
Hands on, the Revenant is a heavy-armor utility-based melee-caster with a lot of support. In the beta we had access to three different “stances” or legendary heroes that the Revenant can channel: Ventari, Jalis, and Mallyx. Each of these stances changes the 6-0 utility skills that the Reveant has access to, but the weapon remains untouched—and Revenants do not have weapon swap.
To best understand the Revenant we should go over what each of the channeled legends does.
Ventari the Centaur: this legendary stance is primarily
It’s a dark day in the gaming world today as Nintendo CEO and president Satoru Iwata died today at age 55.
Nintendo announced the death of their chief executive in a statement:
Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.
Iwata already missed showing up at E3 2015 this year as doctors told him not to appear. Instead, a pre-recorded video with Iwata and other executives presented as puppets became the center of the show.
As CEO and president of Nintendo, Iwata oversaw some of the greatest successes of Nintendo as a console company – with the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo Wii – he also oversaw some of the darkest days for Nintendo with the 3DS and the Wii U.

As Guild Wars 2 continues the apparently long road towards the expansion Heart of Throrns things keep changing in the game world. The hype is real and the preorders have already been announced—we even had a Revenant, a new class coming with the expansion, appear in the main social hub of the game. The problem? It taking ArenaNet, developer of GW2, far too long to release information about what’s in the expansion.
This problem led to a great deal of player frustration during the announcement of the preorder and it continues to grate on the nerves of both media and community.
The GW2 community right now relies heavily on dataminers such as that_shaman from Reddit to reveal what ArenaNet has not. Leaks have been leading the way in information about HoT for the past few months.
In any sense of marketing and information leadership this
